Creamy Avocado Lime Dip: Fresh & Easy

Creamy avocado lime dip served with fresh vegetables

A smooth avocado-lime dip designed for serving with vegetables.

Recipe scope: This smooth avocado-lime vegetable dip is designed for raw vegetables; it is not presented as a traditional guacamole recipe.

Avocado is botanically a fruit, so this is best described as a creamy avocado dip designed for vegetables rather than calling avocado itself a vegetable.

Why wash avocados before cutting?

Wash the whole fruit under running water before cutting so the knife does not carry surface dirt into the flesh. Do not use soap or detergent on produce.

Why it turns brown

Cut avocado can brown after exposure to air. Lime, reduced air exposure and refrigeration can slow the change but do not stop it permanently. A brown surface is a quality issue by itself, not automatic proof of spoilage.

If it is too thin

Add more ripe avocado. See How to Fix a Watery Dip for broader troubleshooting.

Best vegetables

Cucumber, carrots, celery, peppers, radishes, snap peas, broccoli, cauliflower and endive work well. See Best Vegetables for Dipping.

Storage

Appearance quality may decline before the general refrigerated leftovers window. Use the central storage guide for safety guidance.
